Fried Chicken Fingers with Garlic and Thyme

Fried Chicken Fingers with Garlic and Thyme

I want to hear from you, so don’t forget to check out our first annual reader survey! It takes just a few minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Recently, Visit Zurich kindly invited me to explore Zurich, marking my debut visit to Switzerland. The experience was delightful, with scrumptious food and remarkable hospitality, particularly at Fischers Fritz. Their chicken wings were memorable, and although they couldn’t reveal the chef’s secret recipe, they shared some insights on the spices and seasonings. Since Curtis isn’t a fan of chicken wings, I decided to adapt the recipe to his favorite: chicken fingers!

Zurich’s charm lies in its walkability, allowing us to stroll extensively and enjoy delicious meals throughout our journey. To reach the restaurant, we even took a quaint boat ride, leading to an idyllic lunch view that made me joke about bringing a towel to lounge in the sun.

And those fries? I’m constantly reminiscing about them!

I stumbled upon a new sriracha seasoning at my local grocery store and was thrilled to incorporate it into this recipe. Here’s how you can make it:

Place all the spices and flour into a large zippered plastic bag. Seal it, then mix everything by shaking the bag and moving the flour around with your fingers.

Beat the eggs in a shallow dish and combine them with sweet chili sauce. My sister gifted me prep and breading dishes a few years ago, which are fabulous—even though they’re no longer available on Amazon, there are similar options out there.

Cut the chicken and immerse it in the egg mixture, ensuring every piece is well-coated. Transfer the chicken to the seasoned flour bag, seal, and shake it to thoroughly coat the chicken.

As you fry the chicken, whip up the dipping sauce by whisking together all the ingredients. This recipe has quickly become my favorite fried chicken dish—Curtis absolutely loved it, and I’m sure you will too!

The sauce strikes a perfect balance: not too sweet or spicy, though you can adjust it to your liking by adding more honey for sweetness or more chili sauce and Tabasco for extra heat. The chicken bursts with flavor from the seasonings, offering a subtle hint of spice.
