Thyme-Infused Garlic Chicken Strips

Thyme-Infused Garlic Chicken Strips

Here’s a friendly reminder: I’m eager to hear your thoughts! Our first annual reader survey is now live, and it only takes a few minutes to complete. Thank you so much in advance for your input!

I was invited by the wonderful people at Visit Zurich to explore Zurich for the first time, and Switzerland truly won me over. I enjoyed some excellent food, especially at Fischers Fritz, where the hospitality was exceptional. One standout dish was their chicken wings. Intrigued, I reached out to them for the recipe. While they couldn’t disclose the exact ingredients (it’s a chef’s secret!), they kindly shared the spices and seasonings used. Since Curtis isn’t a fan of chicken wings, I decided to make his favorite—chicken fingers—using the recipe.

Zurich is a stunning city, and I love how easy it is to explore on foot. We walked a lot, which is something I always enjoy while traveling, especially since it helps balance out all the great food!

To reach the restaurant, we took a charming boat ride, landing at a picturesque spot with a mesmerizing lunch view. I joked that all I needed was a towel for a nap right there.

The fries were unforgettable, too—I often find myself reminiscing about them!

Recently, I stumbled upon a new sriracha seasoning at my local grocery store and was thrilled to incorporate it into this recipe.

To make the dish, simply add all the spices and seasonings into a large ziplock bag with the flour. Seal the bag and shake it gently to mix. Beat the eggs in a shallow dish—I’m fond of the prep and breading dishes my sister gifted me a few years back (they’re currently unavailable on Amazon, but similar ones can be found).

Mix in the sweet chili sauce with the eggs. Cut the chicken into pieces and coat them in the egg mixture, ensuring they’re well covered. Next, transfer the chicken to the seasoned flour bag, seal it, and gently move the chicken around to coat it thoroughly.

As you fry the chicken, prepare the dipping sauce by whisking together all the ingredients. This has quickly become my new favorite recipe for fried chicken—Curtis LOVED it, and I think you will too!

The sauce strikes a perfect balance, not too sweet or spicy. If you prefer it sweeter, add more honey. For extra heat, increase the chili sauce and Tabasco. The chicken itself is bursting with flavor from the seasonings, with just a hint of spice every now and then!
